I only have two more weeks of travel so I’m trying to use as much of my hotel time getting the business side of my art done. I am overflowing with new ideas for the studio. I’m starting to fantasize about an entire winter with my coffee and paints. In preparation, I’ve been working diligently to get through my “to do” lists of marketing, networking, research, etc.
I have an artist reception this Thursday at Profile Cabinets Showroom in Kansas City. I’m excited because it is an opportunity to get my work in front of a lot of designers. With this, I’m thinking of my branding and polishing my professional look.
This week I ordered prints of about 20 different paintings. I have never really offered prints, but decided after a great deal of requests for them, I’m going to make them available. I also ordered blank greeting cards. I once funded my European artist fellowship with cards so I know they are worthwhile. However, there’s a lot of initial work to get them edited and ready. I spent 4 hours just editing images this week and now those are on order as well! With cards and prints come packaging. I’ve got m backing and clear covers ordered. I also bit the bullet and ordered a card display for some future shows already on the calendar.
Last but not least, I made a variety of painting postcards to present at my art shows coming up.
Most of these things have been on a to do list for over a year, so it’s nice to finally get them off the list. Best of all, once I’m off the road, I can really concentrate on just the painting and creating process.
Are you from the Kansas City area?
Yes I am!
I went to school in Lawrence. My in-laws live in Olathe.
I love Lawrence! I actually live in Olathe now. I have been down by the Plaza for the past 7 years.
