I’ve been sooo busy with painting, moving, and working I’ve haven’t spent much time blogging. I’m going to make a point to get better at it. To start, I’m going to share about what I’ve been up to.
I have moved studios! I just recently opened a studio space in Parkville, MO inside the Buffalo River Arts Gallery. My grand opening will be April 26th, in conjunction with the Microbrew Festival in Parkville.
I also currently have several shows up throughout KC. I have permanent pieces hanging at a new restaurant on 39th Street called Kansas Town and in Overland Park at Holistic Health Services. There are two shows hanging through the Regional Arts Council ‘Now Showing’ program; at McCownGordan Construction and Matrix Fund Services. You can also find work through the rest of March at Unity on the Plaza and Starbucks on 39th.
I just took down my piece for the “Fear” show that was at the Beggar’s Table Gallery. I got 13 artists together and gave them the theme “Fear” to create from. I was so blown away with the results. The paintings were amazing and so thought provoking. I was moved to tears by the vulnerability in the paintings. It made me realize how much we all are really connected as human beings. We posted a board for people to interact and write what their fears were. We got some silly ones such as: the Illuminati and Wal-Mart. There were also some very thought provoking ones like trusting, loving, and being a parent. We had hundreds of people come through the show. It made me so proud to be an artist in KC and to know so many other creative people who are willing to put their guards down and share a piece of themselves through their art.
